History

The Rising-Star Sports Foundation is a non-profit community based organization determined to develop young talents in rural and deprived communities’ through structured athletics and educational activities. It was founded in December 2019.

The basic aim is to be able to give the young talents the necessary training, equip them with the right tools to develop their skills and at the same time not losing out on their education. We currently offer after school classes, participating in tournament, soliciting for sports and educational scholarships, guidance and counselling services for free. The foundation was founded by Albert Paa Kobina Amoah and Enock Otu Owuade and supported by Reagan Abam Borteye, Lawrence Paresen ,Bernard and Benedicta Amoah as part of our management team playing vital roles to make sure the organization is on track. We are located in Nuumo Borteifio loop , Nunguah Accra Ghana.

It’s our aim to encourage more girls to take up sports, reduce the exposure of young children to deviant behaviors, bad influence, school dropout, street hawking, drug abuse and reduce the risk of wrong association during holidays, after school hours and vacations. It’s also to guide them as they play table tennis professionally.

The foundation currently house over 40 young children with ages starting from five years. We currently record at least 3 new young talents on weekly bases. We train at the Cottage in Nungua which can practically house one table tennis board which is having a negative influence on our training schedules. We have secured a parcel of land to set up a four table training center in Nunguah.

Our table tennis team have engage in a number of competitions across the country. Some includes the Asawa National Tournament in Koforidua, The Nungua Kpelejoo TT tournament, The Players Tournament ,National Junior and Cadet tournament, Sheroes etc. the team performed marvelously well in all competitions, wining gold, silver and bronze across all discipline. We have one of our Rising Star, Joanita currently participating in the 2023ITTF-Africa Senior Championships in Michael Yeboah runner up of 2023 junior championship, Gloria Koomson,Frank Aduahene,Prince Lawhey and a host of notable rising stars. There hasn’t been a single tournament we haven’t mount the podium.

The foundation is fully determined in developing young talents in deprived communities and villages. We are also using sports to encourage youth to stay in school which a pre requisite for them to take part in the foundation program.
