AKLIE BROTHERS WIN BRONZE FOR GHANA AT 2025 ITTF AFRICAN YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP

Ghana’s Israel Aklie and Prince Aklie, produced a spirited run to bag bronze medal in the Under‑15 Boys’ Doubles Event at the 2025 ITTF African Youth Championship, held at the Sir Molade Okoya‑Thomas Indoor Sports Hall in Lagos, Nigeria.

The duo overcame tough opposition and showed remarkable determination on the continental stage.

Starting their campaign in the round of 32 with a bye, Israel and Prince began their journey in the round of 16 with a commanding 3–0 victory over the Madagascan pair of Andriamihaja Rakotovao and Andriantahina Josh.

In the quarter‑final, the Ghanaian duo faced a stern test against Nigeria’s Adebakin Tobi and Adeoye Hussein. In a tense five‑set thriller, Israel and Prince held their nerve to edge a 3–2 win, securing a place in the semi‑finals.

The last‑four clash pitted them against Algeria’s Goudjil Aylan and Zouitene Bilel. In a hard-fought encounter, the Ghanaians fell 1–3 to the eventual finalists, but that semi‑final finish was enough to guarantee them bronze medal and a spot on the podium.

The result not only places Ghana among the top three pairs in Africa, but also highlights the nation’s growing depth and promise at the youth level.

With such grit and skill on display from Israel and Prince, the future looks bright for Ghanaian table tennis.
