
AKILE BROTHERS SECURE SEMI-FINAL SPOT IN UNDER-15 BOY'S DOUBLES AT 2025 AFRICAN YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ghana’s dynamic sibling pairing, Israel Aklie and Prince Aklie, have powered their way into the semi-final of the Under-15 Boys’ Doubles of the 2025 African Youth Championships, delivering a series of commanding performances that have combined flair, precision, and relentless fighting spirit at the Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall.
Their campaign began with a Round of 32 bye, giving them direct passage into the knockout stages. In the Round of 16, they wasted no time making their mark, sweeping aside Madagascar’s Andriamihaja Rakotovao and Andriantahina Josh in straight sets, 3–0 (12–10, 11–1, 11–6).
The quarter-final proved to be a far sterner test, as the Ghanaian brothers came up against Nigeria’s Adebakin Tobi and Adeoye Hussein in a gripping five-set battle. The Aklies showed remarkable composure and resilience, rallying from tense moments to secure a hard-fought 3–2 victory (8–11, 11–8, 12–10, 6–11, 11–6) and book their place in the last four.
With their combination of sharp attacking play, quick reflexes, and strong on-table chemistry, Israel and Prince have emerged as genuine medal contenders. As they head into the semi-finals against their Algerian rivals, all eyes will be on the Ghanaian duo to deliver a masterpiece to advance into the finals.
