AKLIE, BORTEYE FOR 2024 ITTF WORLD HOPES WEEK AND CHALLENGE IN PARAGUAY

Africa’s number one male Hopes player Israel Aklie and national female champion Juanita Borteye will join their African counterparts for a 3-day intensive training camp in Egypt from the 26th to the 29th of October en route to Asunción, Paraguay to participate in the 2024 ITTF World Hopes Week and Challenge.

This is the first time Ghana will be represented in this global talent hunt project organised by the International table tennis Federation. Israel Aklie distinguished himself during the African qualifiers when he defeated all nine opponents to lift the cup.

The duo participated in the ongoing 2024 ITTF Africa Senior Championships in Ethiopia, where they reached the quarter finals of the mixed doubles event. They will be coached and chaperoned in Paraguay by Cynthia Kwabi. Cynthia Kwabi plays a pivotal role as mentor for Juanita Borteye, and she served as Juanita Borteye’s doubles partner in the senior Championships in Ethiopia.

The team departs from Egypt on 30th October to Paraguay.
