DRAW FOR TEAMS EVENT READY- THE QUEST FOR GOLD MEDALS BEGINS FOR GHANA TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION

The male national table tennis team of Ghana has been drawn against Madagascar and Sudan in the team event in Group 5. Reigning champions Egypt are drawn in Group 1 alongside Ethiopia and Gabon. Group 2 has powerhouse Nigeria paired with the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mauritania. Algeria, Angola and Guinea make up Group 3 while Congo, South Africa and Uganda slug it out in Group 4. Tunisia, Cote d’Ivoire and Kenya make up Group 6. With seasoned players in the persons of Bernard Joe Sam, Emmanuel Commey, Samuel Akayade, Ernest Mawutor Quarcoo and wonder kid Israel Aklie in top form, team Ghana should be able to qualify to the knockout stage. The female team has been handed a tough draw against defending champions Egypt and Uganda in Group 1. Group 2 is made up of South Africa, Congo and Angola. Nigeria, Algeria and Madagascar are in Group 3, while Group 4 comprises of Tunisia, Ethiopia and Kenya. Cynthia Kwabi, Celia Baah-Danso, Eva Adom-Amankwaa, Bernice Borley Bortey and Juanita Borteye have an uphill task to surmount in this group. However, with their combined experience over the years, they will make team Ghana proud. Two teams will qualify from each group to the next stage of the competition. Play commences on 6th March, 2024 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
